Wyżnia Tomkowa Przełączka is a place reserved for experienced mountaineers rather than casual hikers - a high mountain col tucked deep within the Tomkowe Igły ridge in the Tatra Mountains. Sitting at 2115 m, it forms part of the western ridge of the third summit (counting south to north) of Niżnie Rysy, surrounded by sharp rock towers and steep gullies.

The scenery here is wild and dramatic - jagged rock needles, a narrow ridge line and steep slopes falling away on both sides, one toward the Żleb Orłowski gully, the other into a depression leading toward the next summits of Niżnie Rysy. This is a spot for those seeking genuine alpine climbing adventure far from crowds and marked trails. How to reach the viewpoint

• Accessible only via a climbing route along the western ridge through Tomkowe Igły - grade IV, with a section of V on the Tatra scale, approximate time 5 hours, a demanding route suited to experienced climbers
• From the col it is also possible to continue to Zadnia Tomkowa Igła, with a difficulty ranging from III to V depending on the variant chosen

The Tomkowe Igły towers and the cols between them were named in honor of Józef Gąsienica Tomkowy, a distinguished Tatra mountain guide active in the early 20th century - a fitting tribute etched into this remote corner of the range.
