Wyżnia Spadowa Przełączka is a small notch on the Żabia Grań ridge with a unique distinction - it is the only true junction col in the entire Tatra Mountains, where three separate ridgelines meet. For experienced Tatra mountaineers this is a place of real significance, and anyone who reaches it is rewarded with views into three different valleys at once.

The col overlooks the Czarnostawiański Kocioł basin in the Rybi Potok Valley, the Valley of the Białczańskie Frog Ponds, and the Spadowa Valley. The meeting point of ridges heading toward Rysy, toward Młynarz, and toward Żabi Mnich creates a striking panorama of the High Tatras' rocky labyrinth. The view is somewhat less expansive than from the neighboring Żabi Szczyt Wyżni, for which this col is the easiest and most commonly used approach. The surroundings have a raw, high-alpine character - rock, gullies and sharp ridges mean this spot is best suited to those with experience in exposed terrain.

How to reach the viewpoint

• From Ciężka Przełączka (from the southwest) - grade 0 or I on the Tatra scale, approx. 10 min
• From Spadowy Żleb, via the right-hand gully (from the west) - grade 0+, approx. 10 min
• From Spadowy Żleb, via the left-hand gully (from the west) - grade I, approx. 30 min
• From Białczańska Przełęcz Wyżnia - grade 0, approx. 20 min
• From Dolinka Spadowa - grade 0, approx. 30 min

Practical information

• Reaching this col requires alpine experience and confidence navigating rocky terrain - it is not suitable for beginners
• The col is the most convenient link between the Rybi Potok Valley and the Spadowa Valley

The first recorded ascent took place on 26 July 1905, during a climb to Żabi Szczyt Wyżni led by Janusz Chmielowski together with companions and Tatra mountain guides, while the first winter ascent followed in 1930.
