Szpiglasowa Szczerbina is a mountain pass at around 2115 m, tucked into the main ridge of the High Tatras in a section known as Szpiglasowa Grań. It's a spot for those drawn to the wilder, less-trodden corners of the Tatra landscape, surrounded by rocky pinnacles.

The pass sits between two nearly twin-like rock towers – Szpiglasowy Ząb (2120 m) and Szpiglasowa Turniczka (2125 m). The ridge it runs along marks the Polish-Slovak border. On the Polish side, the slopes drop into Dolinka za Mnichem, while on the Slovak side they descend into Dolina Ciemnosmreczyńska. This rugged, high-mountain setting is striking – rocky ridges and views stretching across both sides of the border create a真unique atmosphere of remoteness and wildness.

How to reach the viewpoint

• From the Slovak side: reaching the pass is easy, rated 0 on the Tatra difficulty scale.
• Along the ridge: descending to the pass involves a grassy gully and a moderately steep rock slab.

Practical information

• Szpiglasowa Grań and its walls are currently completely closed to hikers and climbers.
• From the pass, the easiest ascent leads to either of the two neighboring rock towers.

Despite its rugged character, this spot has long fascinated Tatra climbers – today, however, due to nature protection measures, it remains off-limits to tourist traffic.
