Szczerbina między Igłami is a small but striking notch hidden in the very heart of the Tatra main ridge, between Igła Milówki and Cienka Igła. This is a place for seasoned mountaineers seeking true ridge climbing, not easy views from a comfortable trail.

The notch lies close to Mięguszowiecka Przełęcz Wyżnia, right on the Polish-Slovak border, surrounded by the soaring towers of the Mięguszowieckie peaks. The terrain here is rugged and rocky, typical of the highest parts of the High Tatras. The views take in jagged ridgelines, deep valleys on both sides of the border, and the massive bulk of Mięguszowiecki Szczyt Pośredni. In summer the rocks warm under the sun and the air is often remarkably clear, while in winter the spot becomes accessible only to the most experienced and well-equipped climbers.

How to reach the viewpoint

• Szczerbina między Igłami can only be reached during a mountaineering traverse of the Mięguszowieckie ridge - the route demands climbing experience, good fitness and proper equipment; no marked hiking trail leads here.

• Not accessible to regular hikers - reserved for climbers traversing the ridge.

The name of the notch, coined by Slovak mountaineer Arno Puškáš in 1981, was introduced into Polish literature by Władysław Cywiński. The first traverse was made by Helena Dębińska (Śliwińska) and Justyn Wojsznis on 5 August 1930.
