The Maják lookout tower is a real curiosity - built on a former mining spoil heap near the village of Strupčice, this wooden structure was created as part of an art course during the filming of a documentary about the Mostecko region. It offers a view unlike any other, where raw industrial landscape meets distant mountain panoramas.

The atmosphere here is unique - on one side stretches the Vršany open-pit mine with the Komořany thermal power plant visible behind it, while on the other side the view reaches all the way to Most, the České středohoří highlands, the Březno spoil heap, and the towns of Chomutov and Jirkov, backed by the Ore Mountains (Krušné hory). It is a place where the region's industrial past meets nature reclaiming the land. In spring and summer the surrounding heap is covered in grass and low shrubs typical of reclaimed mining terrain, while in winter the landscape feels more exposed but visibility is often excellent.

Fun fact - the tower was built by volunteers during the Artefakt course while filming the documentary Na vodě, and it was officially opened on 24 July 2012.
