The pass known as Przełęcz pod Śnieżką is a gentle high-mountain saddle sitting at 1,389 m above sea level, right on the Polish-Czech border in the Karkonosze (Giant Mountains). It's the kind of place that surprises you with its calm openness — a wide mountain meadow framing the mighty bulk of Śnieżka, the highest peak in the Sudetes. Whether you're heading for the summit or just want to wander through the clouds, this pass is where the adventure truly begins.

Unlike dramatic rocky ridges, this pass is a broad, shallow depression with very gentle slopes — almost like a green plateau floating between two countries. The surrounding meadows are a pleasure in every season: wildflowers in spring, warm sun and panoramic views in summer, and a raw, wind-swept wilderness in winter. The 'Śląski Dom' mountain hut nearby is the perfect place to warm up and recharge before or after the hike.

A little piece of history: until 21 December 2007, an official border crossing operated here on the tourist trail between Śląski Dom and Luční bouda — abolished when the Schengen Agreement came into effect. For years, the hut building also housed a border guard post, making this peaceful meadow a once-guarded frontier.
