Okraj Pass (1046 m a.s.l.) is one of the most rewarding stops in the eastern Giant Mountains — a genuine mountain crossroads sitting right on the Polish-Czech border, where you can hike freely between two countries without any formalities.

The pass sits between the Kowarski Ridge and the Lasocki Ridge, and the atmosphere here is wonderfully international: on the Polish side you'll find the PTTK mountain shelter 'Na Przełęczy Okraj', while just across the former border the Czech Pomezní bouda hut, restaurants, and guesthouses of the village of Malá Úpa welcome you. In summer the surrounding ridges are lush and green with wide open skies; in winter the pass transforms into a snow-covered alpine outpost with a truly dramatic character.

• From Kowary — blue trail (yellow and green trails also available), approx. 8.5 km, approx. 2 hrs 30 min. uphill, approx. 2 hrs downhill, moderate difficulty.
• From Równia pod Śnieżką — Polish-Czech Friendship Trail (red trail), approx. 10 km, approx. 2 hrs 30 min., moderate difficulty.

• The pass is accessible by car via regional road 368 — parking is available near the mountain shelter.
• Accommodation and dining on both the Polish and Czech sides of the border.
• The pass is a major trail junction, making it an excellent rest point during longer ridge walks.

Until 2007, Okraj was the highest road border crossing in Poland — today, thanks to the Schengen Agreement, you simply stroll across the border, making this pass a perfect gateway for cross-border hiking adventures.
