Przełączka pod Zadnim Mnichem is a narrow, deep notch cut into the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains, tucked between two striking peaks - Zadni Mnich and Cubryna. This is a spot for seasoned climbers rather than casual hikers, since it's reached only via technical climbing routes, not marked trails.

The setting is dramatic - both surrounding peaks drop away in sheer vertical rock steps, with views opening onto Dolina za Mnichem and, on the Slovak side, Dolina Ciemnosmreczyńska. In summer it's a raw, rocky landscape home to some remarkably rare alpine plants, while in winter the area demands real caution due to avalanche risk, especially near the Great Cubryna Gallery.

• No marked hiking trails lead here - access is only for climbers via technical routes
• The 50-metre rock step on the Zadni Mnich ridge is one of the hardest points on the entire main ridge of the Tatras (UIAA grade VI), requiring a roped descent
• The area is home to very rare plants in Poland - Poa nobilis and Cochlearia tatrae

This is a place where Tatra climbing history meets wild, untamed nature - the first recorded summer crossing dates back to around 1894, and the winter ascent from 1926 still commands respect among mountaineers today.
