Niżnia Walentkowa Szczerbina is a subtle, inconspicuous notch along the Walentkowa Ridge, which carries the Polish-Slovak border. This spot appeals to serious mountaineers seeking solitude on a wild, high-mountain ridge rather than crowded tourist trails.

The saddle sits at 2120 m, between Wielka Walentkowa Czuba and Niżnia Walentkowa Baszta. The surroundings are classic High Tatras terrain - rocky slopes fall away on both sides: to the east toward Zadni Staw in the Valley of Five Polish Lakes, and to the west into the Walentkowe Kamienne cirque in the Walentkowa Valley. Directly below the notch lies a steep, chimney-like gully, grassy near the top and scattering into scree lower down. This is raw, untamed Tatra scenery at its most primal - striking in summer when the rock warms under the sun, and equally dramatic in winter under snow and rime.

Interestingly, the name Niżnia Walentkowa Szczerbina does not appear in the classic Four-Language Geographical Dictionary of the Tatras, and the official Geoportal map places the name incorrectly, at the location of Wyżnia Walentkowa Szczerbina instead - a small mystery that still intrigues Tatra toponymy enthusiasts.
