Niżnia Tomkowa Przełączka is a small but dramatic notch hidden within the Tomkowe Igły ridge, reachable only by experienced climbers. This spot is for those seeking genuine high-mountain climbing rather than casual hiking.

Sitting at 2094 m, the col lies between Skrajna Tomkowa Igła and the higher Zadnia Tomkowa Igła, along the western ridge of Niżnie Rysy. Its southern slope drops into the Żleb Orłowski gully, while the northern side falls toward a depression leading between further summits of Niżnie Rysy. The surroundings have a rugged, rocky character typical of this part of the Tatras, with views over steep walls and rock towers.

• Access is only possible via a climbing route along the western ridge through the Tomkowe Igły; difficulty IV, with sections of V on the Tatra scale, approximate time 5 hours - climbing experience and proper gear required.

From the col, climbers can continue to the summit of Skrajna Tomkowa Igła (difficulty I) or Zadnia Tomkowa Igła (difficulty V). The name of the col and neighboring towers honors Józef Gąsienica Tomkowy, an outstanding Tatra mountain guide.
