The Kisfaludy-kilátó is an 18-metre-tall lookout tower standing on the highest point of Badacsony, a striking volcanic table mountain rising above the Tapolca Basin at 437.4 metres above sea level. Named after the Hungarian poet Sándor Kisfaludy, it has long been one of the signature landmarks of the Balaton Uplands.

Badacsony is famous for its basalt organ pipe formations and terraced vineyards climbing its slopes, and from the summit the views stretch far across Lake Balaton and the surrounding hills. The mountain has a distinct character in every season - lush green vineyards in summer, golden colours during the autumn grape harvest, and crisp, wide-open panoramas in winter when the air is clear.

Please note: the tower is currently closed to visitors.

• Paths lead upward through vineyards and forested slopes typical of the mountain

• The tower is currently closed (lezárva) to the public
• The original structure dated from the 1960s but had deteriorated significantly over time
• It was completely demolished and rebuilt in 2011, reopening to visitors in June 2012

The reconstruction was funded through an EU-supported development programme, giving Badacsony a modern, multi-purpose lookout tower in place of the ageing original built decades earlier.
