Ukryty Schron is a small cave tucked away in the Kraków Gorge (Wąwóz Kraków), one of the most picturesque corners of the Kościeliska Valley in the Western Tatras. It's a great stop for hikers who enjoy discovering quiet, lesser-known nooks of the mountains rather than just following the main trail.

The entrance lies on the eastern slope of the gorge, below Upłazkowa Turnia, at an altitude of 1174 metres. The cave itself is tiny — just 5 metres long with a 1-metre elevation difference — so it's more of a curious detour than a destination in itself. The Kraków Gorge is beautiful year-round: cool and shaded in summer, colourful in autumn, and often draped in ice formations in winter. Inside the cave you can spot small mushroom-shaped flowstone formations and moonmilk deposits, though the walls stay damp and vegetation only grows near the entrance.

• Best visited in dry weather, as the walls are naturally damp and can be slippery

The identity of the cave's original discoverers remains unknown, but its first plan and description were made in 1977 by M. and R. Kardaś together with P. Herzyk and E. Kuźniak — a small trace of the long tradition of Tatra cave exploration.
