Plumssattel (1669 m above sea level) is the lowest crossing point between the Rißtal valley to the west and the Achental valley to the east. It's the only such pass developed as a forest road, making it an accessible and popular destination for hikers and mountain bikers alike.
The saddle separates the Vorkarwendel range with the Montscheinspitze to the north from the Sonnjoch group in the main Karwendel range to the south. This spot acts as a real hub for hiking routes - from here, numerous trails branch out towards Montscheinspitze or Bettlerkarspitze, starting either from Achensee or the Rißtal valley. In summer the trail buzzes with hikers and cyclists, and the surrounding Karwendel peaks offer rewarding views along the way.
How to get there
Just a short distance below the saddle on the western side lies the seasonally operated Plumsjochhütte, a great spot to rest and grab a bite during your hike.
This small but strategically important gap in the Karwendel massif has long served as a natural link between the valleys, making it an excellent starting point for further mountain exploration.
