Mokra Jama is a small, little-known Tatra tarn that most hikers rushing toward Kasprowy Wierch simply walk past. It is precisely this quiet, unassuming character that makes it a rewarding stop for anyone who enjoys finding the lesser-known corners of the Tatras.

The tarn lies in the Valley of Zielona Gąsienicowa, specifically in the section known as Roztoka Stawiańska, right next to the trail leading from the Murowaniec shelter to Kasprowy Wierch. For most of the year Mokra Jama has no outflow, but when water levels rise it can become a through-flowing pond - a phenomenon worth watching for in spring, when melting snow feeds the surrounding tarns. The surroundings offer classic Tatra scenery: dwarf mountain pine, rocky slopes, and a stillness that is surprisingly noticeable despite the proximity of a popular trail.

• Kuźnice — first take the black or yellow trail to Murowaniec, then continue toward Kasprowy Wierch

Interesting fact: Mokra Jama is not mentioned in classic Tatra guidebooks, such as the one by Witold Henryk Paryski, even though by surface area it ranks 12th among the tarns of the Gąsienicowa Valley.
