Mnichowy Żleb is a large, deeply cut gully descending toward Morskie Oko lake, and it serves as one of the most important climbing 'highways' in the High Tatras. Dozens of climbing routes branch off from the path that runs along its bed, making it a key access corridor for mountaineers.

The gully forms the western boundary of the Cubryna massif. Its wide, scree-covered floor makes an impression right from the start, while the upper section narrows sharply, closed off by the wall of Mała Galeria Cubryńska. This gives the place a raw, alpine character. In summer it buzzes with climbing activity, while in winter - once the rocky sill at the top disappears under snow - passage becomes fast and convenient, though avalanche danger demands real caution.

• From Nadspady through Mnichowy Żleb — difficulty grade 0+ (with one section rated III on the Tatra scale), about 1 hour to reach Zadnia Galeria Cubryńska, mountaineering experience required

• Terrain suited only for experienced mountaineers, not a marked tourist trail

• The gully floor is wide and covered in fine scree, while the upper part narrows and turns rocky

The gully takes its name from the nearby Mnich peak, and for generations it has served as a key starting point for numerous climbing routes in the Cubryna area.
