Črnivec (902 m) is a scenic mountain pass in Slovenia, sitting on the watershed between the Kamniška Bistrica and Savinja rivers. It's a place where history, nature and hiking trails come together, making it a great starting point for exploring the surrounding peaks.
The pass lies between the Menina planina massif to the east and the peaks of Plešivec (1329 m) and Kranjska reber (1435 m) to the west. It marks the natural border between the Gorenjska and Štajerska regions, and once served as a historical border between Carniola and Styria. The landscape shifts with the seasons - lush green forests and meadows in summer, vivid colors in autumn, and quiet snowy stillness in winter. In 2008, a powerful storm wind flattened dozens of hectares of forest here, and traces of that event are still visible in the terrain today.
How to get there
At the pass, above the road descending into the Zadrečka valley, stands a memorial commemorating a 1942 battle in which partisans from the Kamnik battalion attacked a German outpost - one of the first such clashes in the Gorenjska and Štajerska regions during World War II.
