Wolarz (852 m a.s.l.) is a broad, elongated summit marking the northern edge of the Bystrzyckie Mountains — a peaceful, forested retreat that rewards hikers with a genuine sense of wilderness without demanding extreme effort. It rises above the Piekielna Valley and holds a few natural surprises along the way.

The slopes of Wolarz are covered mostly in spruce forest, with patches of acidophilous beech woodland adding variety to the landscape. Rocky boulder fields and small outcrops break through the trees here and there, offering quiet spots to pause and take in the atmosphere. The dense network of forest roads makes this mountain enjoyable in every season, though autumn — when the beeches turn golden and mist drifts through the valleys — is arguably the most atmospheric time to visit.

• In the Rogoźiniec valley, the forest tracks form the so-called 'Piekielny Labirynt' (Infernal Labyrinth) — a confusing maze of paths where a map or GPS is strongly recommended.
• Two marked hiking trails cross at the summit, making loop routes straightforward to plan.
• The PTTK hut 'Pod Muflonem' is located nearby and is a convenient stop before or after your hike.

The name 'Wolarz' comes from the local word for an ox — seen from the Dusznicka Bystrzyca valley, the mountain's long ridge was said to resemble the back of a resting ox. Keep that image in mind as you climb.
