Wildes Mannle is a compact but rewarding peak in the Ötztal Alps, offering a view that far exceeds its modest height. Rising southeast of the Wildspitze above Vent, it forms the eastern rim of the shrinking Rofenkarferner glacier basin. It's a great choice for hikers wanting a genuine high-mountain experience without technical climbing.

The rocky summit sits amid classic Ötztal scenery - stark, stony terrain framed by glaciers and neighboring three-thousanders. In summer the approach crosses open, sun-exposed slopes, while in winter the area turns into a quiet, snow-covered landscape favored by ski tourers. The panorama toward the Wildspitze and surrounding peaks makes the short ascent well worth it.

• Breslauer Hütte — easy route, about 1.5 hours, difficulty: easy
• Stablein cable car top station (Vent) — direct ascent, about 2 hours, difficulty: easy

• A six-seat chairlift ('Wildes Mannle') runs from Stablein to about 2640 m, cutting an hour off the ascent
• A circular route starting and ending at Stablein via Wildes Mannle and Breslauer Hütte takes about 5.5 hours
• Breslauer Hütte makes a good rest stop along the way

Though not among the giants of the Ötztal, Wildes Mannle's position right above the retreating Rofenkarferner glacier offers a striking, close-up look at how quickly the Alps are changing.
