Wielka Czerwenkowa (1131 m a.s.l.) is a forested border peak in the Żywiec-Kysuce Beskids, sitting right on the Polish-Slovak state boundary. It may not offer an open panoramic summit, but the ridge walk here rewards you with genuine wilderness, quiet beech-spruce forest, and the rare feeling of straddling two countries at once.

The peak belongs to the Wielka Racza group and sits between the Śrubita Pass to the west and the higher Bugaj to the east. Remarkably, the main European Watershed runs right along this ridge — raindrops falling on the Polish slope eventually reach the Baltic Sea, while those on the Slovak side flow toward the Black Sea. The dense forest changes beautifully with the seasons: lush green in spring and summer, fiery gold and red in autumn, and blanketed in snow during winter hikes.

• Starting from Wielka Racza, follow the main ridge trail through the Śrubita Pass toward Wielka Czerwenkowa — moderate pace, easy to moderate difficulty
• The route continues further along the ridge via Jaworzyna, Przegibek Pass, Bania and Majcherowa to Przełęcz pod Rycerzową, making a longer ridge traverse possible

• Wielka Czerwenkowa does not appear on Geoportal maps — use the Compass Polish map or a Slovak tourist map to navigate correctly
• The marked trail bypasses the actual summit, traversing it on the northern (Polish) side — the true top is unmarked and fully wooded
• The ridge forms the Polish-Slovak state border

Here is a fun geographical fact: the Great European Watershed crosses the very top of Wielka Czerwenkowa, meaning every raindrop that falls here 'decides' whether it will end up in the Baltic or the Black Sea.
