Wielka Bukowa (1104 m a.s.l.) is a quiet, forest-covered summit in the Beskid Sądecki range of the Polish Carpathians — a true off-the-beaten-path destination for those who love unspoiled nature. If you enjoy wandering through ancient beech forests without meeting another soul, this ridge will feel like a reward.

The peak is almost entirely cloaked in forest, dominated by beech and silver fir. Along the ridge you will find Bukowa Polana — a small clearing, slowly being reclaimed by the surrounding trees, that offers a peaceful pause on the ascent. The western slopes descend into the Żebracze stream valley, while the eastern side drops toward Szczawniczek. Autumn is perhaps the most magical season here, when the beech trees turn the hillside into a blaze of copper and gold. In the lower part of the western slopes, the Żebracze Nature Reserve protects a pristine fragment of Carpathian beech forest — a rare and valuable natural habitat.

• Szczawnik or Złockie (Muszyna commune) — no marked tourist trails exist on this summit; access via forest tracks, moderate to demanding depending on the chosen approach.

• The entire Wielka Bukowa ridge lies outside the marked trail network — a detailed map or GPS navigation is essential.
• The ridge forms the administrative boundary between the villages of Szczawnik and Złockie, Nowy Sącz County, Małopolska.

The nearby Żebracze Nature Reserve, nestled in the valley at the foot of the peak, is one of the finest examples of natural Carpathian beech forest in the region — well worth a visit on your way.
