Vyšná Magura (2,095 m a.s.l.) is a rewarding peak in the Otrhance ridge of the Western Tatras in Slovakia, sitting above the quiet valleys of Račková and Jamnická. Its rocky-alpine summit offers a full panoramic view in every direction, and the trails leading here are pleasantly off the beaten track. If you want real mountain solitude with proper Tatra scenery, this is a great choice.

The peak sits in the middle section of the Otrhance ridge, which stretches from Hrubý vrch in the main Western Tatra crest southward toward Jakubina and Ostredok. The massif is built predominantly from granite, giving the landscape a rugged, raw feel. From the top you can see the surrounding Western Tatra summits — Jakubina, Bystrá, Baranec, Ostrý Roháč — as well as the Sub-Tatra Basin and the Low Tatras beyond. Summer brings green alpine meadows and wildflowers; autumn turns the slopes golden; in winter the summit is snow-covered and significantly more demanding.

• From Pribylina via Úzka dolina valley, the junction of Jamnická and Račková valleys, and Nižný Ostredok — green trail, moderate difficulty.
• From Hrubý vrch (2,137 m) along the main ridge via Jakubina (2,194 m) — ridge route, demanding.

• The summit lies within Tatra National Park (TANAP) — hiking is permitted only on marked trails.
• A marked hiking trail (green) passes directly over the summit.
• The nearest settlements are Podbanské (to the southeast) and Pribylina (to the south).

The Vyšná Magura massif is built from granite and forms a natural watershed — rainwater from its eastern slopes flows down through Račková to the Biela river, while the western side drains via the Jamnický stream, both eventually reaching the Váh.
