Vráta (1,051 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Podbeskydská vrchovina uplands in the Orava region of Slovakia — a quiet, forested summit that rewards those willing to venture off the beaten track. It is one of those rare spots where you genuinely feel like an explorer, with hardly another soul in sight.

The peak rises in the heart of the Podbeskydská vrchovina, flanked by the valleys of the Kýčera and Poperačský streams. The massif is largely wooded, and the very top offers only limited views through the trees. From open clearings on the slopes, however, sweeping panoramas open up — the border ridges of the Orava Beskids with the Pilsko and Babia Góra massifs, Veľký Choč, the Orava Magura, and on clear days even the peaks of the High and Low Tatras. Autumn brings vivid forest colours, while winter transforms the woodland trails into a peaceful, snow-covered retreat.

• From Breza (south) or Oravská Jasenica (southeast) — forest roads and paths, difficulty: moderate. No marked hiking trails exist; access is possible from virtually all surrounding villages.
• From Oravské Veselé (north) or Beňadovo (northwest) — forest roads, difficulty: moderate.

• The summit lies within the Horná Orava Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Horná Orava).
• No marked hiking trails lead to the top — navigation is via forest roads and unmarked paths.
• Approximately 1 km to the southeast stands the Brabírka observation tower above the village of Oravská Jasenica — well worth combining with a visit to the summit.

Interestingly, the nearby Brabírka observation tower tends to attract more visitors than the summit itself, making Vráta one of those genuinely off-the-radar peaks in the Slovak mountains.
