Úšust (1,156 m a.s.l.) is a rewarding peak in the Orava Beskydy mountains, sitting right on the Slovak-Polish border. It offers sweeping panoramas that on clear days stretch all the way to the High Tatras — a horizon that makes the hike feel genuinely worthwhile.

The summit is covered by patchy forest, partly shaped by past logging, which creates natural clearings with open views over the Orava, Kysuce, Silesian and Żywiec Beskydy ranges, as well as the Orava Magura, Kysuce Highlands and the Malá Fatra. The landscape is quiet and unspoiled, far from crowded tourist circuits. Summer brings cool shade on the ridge, autumn fills the beech forests with warm colour, and winter gives the whole area a lonely, almost meditative quality.

• No marked trail leads directly to the summit — the blue ridge trail passes a short distance to the north of the top.
• The summit itself lies on Slovak territory, approximately 200 m south of the Polish border.
• The area is protected as the Horná Orava Protected Landscape Area.

The peak also lends its name to the entire geomorphological sub-unit called 'Ošust', making it something of a quiet giant that shapes the identity of this whole corner of the Orava Beskydy.
