Úložisko (742 m a.s.l.) is a modest yet fascinating hill in the Liptov Basin of Slovakia, perched directly above the Liptovská Mara dam and reservoir. It combines sweeping views over one of Slovakia's largest water reservoirs with a rich archaeological heritage at its foot, making it a surprisingly rewarding destination for curious travellers.
The hill rises on the right bank of the Váh river, and the views from the top take in the entire Liptov Basin, framed by the High Tatras, Low Tatras and the Veľká Fatra range. The landscape is especially atmospheric in spring and autumn, when mist drifts across the reservoir below. The terrain is gentle and accessible, making this a relaxing half-day outing rather than a strenuous climb.
How to reach the summitAt the foot of the hill lies Havránok, a significant archaeological site from the La Tène period associated with the Púchov culture — a Celtic settlement that thrived here over two thousand years ago, long before the modern reservoir reshaped this valley.
