Turniczka Chałubińskiego is a small but distinctive rocky peak on the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains, standing at 2073 m. This is a place for those who value the raw high-mountain experience over crowded, popular summits - rugged, rocky, and full of authentic Tatra character.

The peak lies between Ciemnosmreczyńska Turnia and Kopa nad Wrotami, separated from them by Przełęcz nad Wrotami and Szczerbina nad Wrotami. Towards Dolina za Mnichem it drops in a vertical, crumbly 20-metre wall, while towards Dolina Ciemnosmreczyńska the slope is about three times longer but gentler and grassier. This is wild, rocky terrain with an alpine character - in summer you get sweeping views of the surrounding ridgelines, while in winter conditions become demanding and require solid mountaineering experience.

How to reach the summit

• Przełęcz nad Wrotami — ridge approach, grade II-III on the Tatra scale, suitable for experienced scramblers
• Traverse from Szczerbina nad Wrotami across a grassy ledge and up a rocky-grassy chimney to the summit

Good to know

• The terrain requires scrambling skills (grade II-III on the Tatra scale) and experience on exposed ridges
• Winter ascents are significantly harder and require proper preparation and equipment
• The summit is not reached by marked hiking trails - this route is for climbers, not casual walkers

The peak was named by Slovak Tatra experts Arno Puškáš and Ivan Bohuš in honour of Tytus Chałubiński, a physician, botanist, and one of the pioneers of Tatra tourism. The first recorded ascent took place in 1908.
