Surový vrch is a modest but rewarding summit in the Oravská Magura mountains, offering a surprisingly wide panoramic view for its height. Perched above the village of Oravská Lesná, it sits in a quiet corner of the Orava region, far from crowds and busy trails.

The deforested, relatively flat summit gives hikers a full circular view of the surrounding landscape — the hills of Oravská Magura and Kysucká vrchovina, the Oravské and Kysucké Beskydy ranges, and even a glimpse of the Malá Fatra mountains on clear days. In summer the grassy slopes feel peaceful and untouched, while in winter the snow-covered ridge lives up to the mountain's raw, wild name. The terrain itself is gentle and non-technical, making it a pleasant option for a quiet countryside walk.

How to reach the summit

• Oravská Lesná — no marked trail, accessible via forest paths and tracks, easy difficulty
• A blue-marked ridge trail runs south from Terchová via Javorinka to Paráč, from which the summit can be reached off-trail

• There is no official marked hiking trail to the summit, so some route-finding is required
