Suchy Wierch Ornaczański (1832 m a.s.l.) is the northernmost and gentlest peak of the Ornak ridge in the Western Tatra Mountains. It may not be the tallest summit around, but it offers open alpine views, a rich carpet of mountain flora, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels like a reward in itself.

The summit is entirely covered with low alpine turf and scattered clumps of dwarf pine. In midsummer, the slopes turn a warm rusty-red as the shoots of heath rush colour the hillside. Among the grasses you will find alpine bellflower, alpine pasqueflower, interrupted clubmoss, and a viviparous form of alpine meadow-grass. The view towards the nearby Kominiarski Wierch peak is particularly impressive. Southward, the ridge continues across the shallow Wyżnia Ornaczańska Pass (1825 m) towards the higher summits of Ornak (1854 m), Zadni Ornak (1867 m) and Kotłowa Czuba (1840 m).

• The peak lies within the Tatra National Park — an entry fee applies.
• The green trail runs along the entire Ornak ridge, continuing over Siwa Pass and Siwe Turnie to the Liliowy Karb pass — ideal for a full ridge walk.

These slopes were once busy summer pastures of the Hala Ornak shepherds — centuries of grazing shaped the open, flower-rich turf that hikers enjoy today.
