Suchý vrch (1,477 m a.s.l.) is one of those rare mountain summits that still belongs entirely to nature rather than to tourism. Tucked away in the Western Tatras of Slovakia, above the scenic Suchá dolina valley and just 14 km north of Liptovský Mikuláš, it stands as a quiet, forest-covered ridge that rewards the adventurous with genuine wilderness.

The peak sits on the western ridge of Ostrá (1,764 m a.s.l.), neatly separating the Suchá dolina to the north from the Huňová dolina to the south. The summit itself is blanketed in dense forest, which blocks wide-open panoramas from the very top — but from favourable spots along the ridge you can glimpse the surrounding Western Tatra peaks, and on exceptionally clear days even the Oravské Beskydy, Malá and Veľká Fatra ranges, and a sliver of the Low Tatras come into view. The landscape is wild and unspoiled throughout the seasons: in winter the ridge lies buried under heavy snow, in spring meltwater feeds the Suchý potok streams draining both northward into the Kvačianka and southward through Huňová.

• The easiest approach follows the ridge from Ostrá — unmarked route, requires good navigation skills; difficulty: demanding.

• Suchý vrch falls within the Tatra National Park (TANAP) and the Suchá dolina National Nature Reserve — the summit is officially closed to tourists.
• There is no marked hiking trail leading to the top.
• A former unmarked path from the Predúvratie saddle to the Suchá priehyba saddle (1,451 m) is no longer maintained.

Despite sitting so close to Liptovský Mikuláš, Suchý vrch remains one of the least-visited summits in the entire Western Tatras — a true hidden corner of the Slovak mountains.
