Strednica (1,129 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Podtatranská Brázda — a quiet, forested hill that stands in the shadow of the dramatic Belianske Tatry ridge. It may not be the most imposing summit around, but it rewards visitors with solitude and a genuine off-the-beaten-path feel.

The top is covered with patches of young forest that allow partial views of the surrounding peaks of the Belianske Tatry main ridge and the western part of the Spišská Magura. On a clear day, you can even spot Babia Hora (1,725 m) in the distant Orava Beskids. The terrain is gentle and the atmosphere calm — a pleasant contrast to the busy trails nearby. Autumn brings especially beautiful colours to the hillside, while summer offers a cool, shaded escape.

How to reach the summit

• Saddle Pod Príslopom (approx. 1,081 m a.s.l.) along the 'Cesta Slobody' road (route I/66) between Ždiar and Tatranská Javorina — short approach, no marked trail, easy terrain.

Practical information

• The peak lies within Tatra National Park (TANAP) — nature protection rules apply.
• There is no marked hiking trail to the summit — access is at your own discretion.
• A ski resort named Strednica operates at the eastern foot of the hill.

As the highest point of the Podtatranská Brázda, Strednica holds a modest but genuine geographic distinction — it tops a unique morphological trough nestled between the Belianske Tatry and the Spiš region.
