Spalona Kopa (2,083 m a.s.l.) is a striking rocky summit on the main ridge of the Western Tatras, rising above the village of Jalovec and the deep valley cutting beneath it. Its exposed, craggy top rewards hikers with a sweeping 360-degree panorama — from the neighbouring Roháče peaks all the way to the High Tatras and, on clear days, the distant ranges of Malá Fatra and the Orava Beskids.

Sitting on the boundary between the historical regions of Orava and Liptov, deep within Tatra National Park, Spalona Kopa has a genuinely wild character. The ridge around the summit is rocky and exposed, with fixed chains securing the trickiest passages in the Skriniarky area. A steep avalanche gully drops northeast toward Spálená Valley, so winter and early spring visits demand extra caution. In summer the high-alpine scenery is magnificent, with close-up views of Pachoľa (2,167 m), Baníkov (2,178 m) and Baranec (2,185 m) lining the ridge.

The name 'Spálená' means 'burned' in Slovak, likely a reminder of the centuries-old pastoral practice of burning forest clearings to create summer grazing grounds on these now-wild slopes.
