Serednia (1,639 m a.s.l.) is one of the most distinctive peaks in the Gorgany massif of the Ukrainian Carpathians — a cone-shaped summit with a treeless top that rewards hikers with open skies and a genuine sense of wilderness. Steep flanks, rocky scree fields and sweeping views make this a memorable destination for those who love the rawer side of mountain hiking.

The summit itself is completely unforested, offering panoramic views right from the top. The approach leads through dense forests covering the lower slopes, which gradually give way to open terrain scattered with the characteristic Gorgany scree. Serednia forms a small ridge called Zaplata together with the neighbouring peak Dalnia (1,508 m), stretching northward and northwestward. To the southwest, the massive Ihrovyshche ridge dominates the horizon with its peaks Vysoka (1,803.6 m) and Ihrovets (1,804.3 m). Between Serednia and Vysoka lies a low saddle adjoined by the Serednia polonyna (alpine meadow). In summer the mountain offers solitude and wild beauty; in autumn the forests below blaze with colour; in winter it becomes a serious challenge.

• Stara Huta village (to the east) — alternative starting point approaching from the eastern side of the Zaplata ridge.

• The peak sits on the boundary between Ivano-Frankivsk and Kalush districts of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast — check current access rules for any protected area permits before your visit.
• Rocky scree fields on the open upper slopes require careful footwork and sturdy hiking boots.

The ridge shared by Serednia is known as 'Zaplata' — a local Gorgany toponym, fitting for a massif widely regarded as one of the wildest and most rugged corners of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
