Sarniak (675 m a.s.l., historically also known as Jeleniec, 747 m) is a modest, understated summit in the Bardo Mountains, tucked away in the dense forests of the Central Sudetes. This is a place for hikers who value quiet, wooded rambles over dramatic panoramas - the nearly flat summit is easy to miss in the terrain, giving it a low-key, intimate character.

The slopes of Sarniak are fairly steep, particularly on the southeastern and northwestern sides, and the entire summit is blanketed in extensive spruce and spruce-beech forest, mixed with other deciduous species. Several forest paths traverse the slopes below the top, offering pleasant routes for peaceful, contemplative walking - especially in autumn when the deciduous trees turn color, and in winter when snow settles on the spruce canopy.

How to reach the summit

• Bardo — blue trail towards Kłodzka Góra and onward to Przełęcz Kłodzka, the trail passes about 400 m west of the summit, time and difficulty depend on the chosen section

Practical information

• The summit lies off the main marked trail - reaching it requires a short detour from the blue trail
• The top is poorly defined in the terrain, so a map or GPS is recommended

An interesting note is the mountain's own naming history - once called Hirsch-Koppe and Sarniak, it is now officially known as Jeleniec, reflecting the tangled naming history of these mountains.
