Ostra Góra (751 m a.s.l.) is one of the most distinctive summits in the Bardzkie Mountains — a well-defined peak along the eastern ridge that was long considered the highest point of the entire range. It offers a quiet, atmospheric forest hike with a fascinating backstory.

The summit is covered by dense spruce and mixed spruce-beech forest, with the beeches near the top taking on wonderfully gnarled, stunted shapes that give the place an almost fairy-tale feel. The atmosphere is peaceful and unhurried — far from any crowds. Spring brings a gradual awakening of the forest, summer offers welcome shade and coolness, and autumn colours the beech trees in vivid golds and oranges.

How to reach the summit:

• From Bardo or from Kłodzko Pass — blue trail, part of the long-distance E3 European hiking route; moderate difficulty, suitable for averagely fit hikers.

Practical information:

• The blue trail crossing the summit connects Bardo with Kłodzko Pass and forms part of the E3 long-distance European trail.

In the late 19th century, the Kłodzko Mountain Society erected a 17-metre wooden observation tower here with two viewing platforms, and a restaurant opened just below the summit — later converted into a year-round guesthouse called 'Hubertusbaude'. After 1945 the shelter was never reopened and gradually fell into ruin, leaving nothing behind but a wonderfully layered history that makes this peaceful summit all the more worth visiting.
