Salatyński Wierch (2,048 m a.s.l.), known in Slovak as Salatín, is one of the most rewarding summits in the Roháče range of the Western Tatras — a rocky peak offering a full 360-degree panorama that makes every step of the ascent worthwhile. Sitting on the natural boundary between the historic regions of Orava and Liptov, it rises above the Bobrovec Valley and the village of Jalovec, well away from the busier crowds of the High Tatras.

The rocky summit delivers an outstanding circular view: surrounding peaks of the Western Tatras, nearby valleys, and a section of the High Tatras are all visible from the top. In clear conditions, the horizon stretches as far as the Malá Fatra, the Low Tatras, the Orava Beskids, and mountain ranges in the adjacent part of southern Poland. The ridge here feels wild and open, with a genuinely untamed atmosphere. Spring brings flowering alpine meadows to the slopes, summer keeps all trails fully accessible, and autumn transforms the scenery with warm golden colours.

• From the west — from Sivý vrch via Brestová (1,903 m), red ridge trail; moderate difficulty.
• From the east — from Volovec via Smutné sedlo and Baníkov (2,178 m), red ridge trail; demanding.
• From Jalovec village — yellow trail via Rázcestie pod Lyscom, then blue through Parichvost Valley and green through Hlboká Valley; moderate to demanding.
• From Zverovka — blue trail via Spálený žľab and Brestová (1,903 m); moderate.

• The summit lies within Tatra National Park (TANAP) — park regulations apply throughout.
• The marked red ridge trail crosses the summit, connecting it to the neighbouring peaks of the Roháče range.
• The peak sits on the district boundary between Liptovský Mikuláš and Tvrdošín.

The Salatín massif forms a natural watershed between the Orava and Váh river basins — standing on the summit, you are literally balanced between two of Slovakia's most iconic mountain valleys.
