Rozpadlá hrebeň is a wild, rarely visited ridge in the Slovak Western Tatras, running from Krzesanica towards Dolina Cicha. It's a place for those seeking solitude away from the crowds, among limestone crags and deep gullies.

The ridge separates Dolinka Rozpadła from Świstówka Liptowska and Dolina Tomanowa Liptowska. Built from limestone and dolomite, it is heavily eroded, as shown by its many caves and rocky formations. The western and southern slopes are grassy and scree-covered, relatively gentle, while the eastern slopes dropping into Dolinka Rozpadła form steep, dramatic walls. In spring and summer the ridge is covered with grass and dwarf mountain pine, in autumn it takes on a raw, rocky character, and in winter it demands mountaineering experience.

Along the way you'll pass distinctive points: the Rozpadłe Siodło saddle, Rozpadła Kopa, Rozpadła Przehyba, Rozpadła Turnia, and Rozpadłe Wrótka.

How to reach the summit

• Approach from Dolina Cicha or Dolina Tomanowa Liptowska - terrain requiring good orientation skills, more demanding route, recommended for experienced hikers and climbers
• Possible approach from Krzesanica along the ridge in a south-eastern direction

Practical information

• Over 40 caves have been documented along the ridge, including the deepest cave in the Slovak Western Tatras - Tomanova Studňa (160 m deep)
• Jaskinia Rozpadła (Rozpadła Cave) was already explored in 1912 by Mariusz Zaruski
• The route is not a fully marked hiking trail - it requires mountain experience
