Pawlików Wierch is a modest but wonderfully scenic hill in the Spiš Foothills region, offering sweeping panoramas despite its low altitude of just 1016 m. It's a great choice for hikers who want rewarding views without the crowds typical of the nearby Tatra trails.

The summit, ridge and much of the slopes are open and treeless, which makes Pawlików Wierch an excellent viewpoint over the surrounding countryside. The eastern slopes descend towards the Łapszanka stream valley, while the western side drops into the Trybszanka valley, creating a gently rolling, pastoral landscape typical of the Spiš Foothills. In summer the hill glows green with meadows and pastures, in autumn it turns golden and colourful, and in winter it offers quiet, snow-covered views far from the crowds.

How to reach the summit

• Bukowina Tatrzańska — red trail via Rzepiska and Sarnowska Grapa, approx. 2.10 h, easy/moderate
• Łapsze Wyżne — red trail in the opposite direction, approx. 2.10 h

Practical information

• The hill's name comes from the Pawliki hamlet belonging to Rzepiska — it is often incorrectly called Pawlikowski Wierch, so it's worth remembering the correct form

Interesting fact: Slovak geographers and some Polish ones classify Pawlików Wierch as part of the Spišská Magura, but Polish geographer Jerzy Kondracki used the term Spiš Foothills instead, reserving Spišská Magura only for the main ridge that runs mostly on the Slovak side.
