Owcza Góra is a small, quiet peak in the Śnieżnik Massif, perfect for those seeking a walk away from the crowds. At 760 metres above sea level, this modest summit offers gentle slopes and forest silence, protected within the Śnieżnik Landscape Park.

The mountain is covered with lower montane spruce forest, providing pleasant shade in summer and a snowy hush in winter. Its slopes descend towards the valleys of the Nowinka and Cieszyca streams, forming picturesque, damp ravines with small gneiss outcrops emerging at the foot of the mountain. This is a spot for hikers looking for peace rather than crowded trails - lovely for an autumn walk when the forest glows with colour, or a summer stroll in the shade. From the Owcze Łąki meadows the summit connects with the rest of the massif towards Gawlik, allowing for a longer hike deeper into the Sudetes.

How to reach the summit

• Nowa Wieś - starting point near the large holiday resort at the foot of the mountain, moderate difficulty, time depends on the chosen trail
• Possibility to extend the route via Owcze Łąki towards Gawlik and the further part of the Śnieżnik Massif

• The summit is built of gneiss belonging to the Lądek-Śnieżnik metamorphic complex - small outcrops are visible at the foot of the mountain above the Nowinka and Cieszyca streams
• A large holiday resort operates in Nowa Wieś at the foot of the mountain, convenient as a base for hikes

The former German name of the mountain, Schafberg, recalls the pastoral past of this area - which is also the origin of its Polish name, Owcza Góra (Sheep Mountain).
