Ostra (1,764 m a.s.l.) is a striking conical peak in the Western Tatras of Slovakia, built from limestone and dolomite and rewarding hikers with sweeping views across multiple mountain ranges. Sitting roughly 14 km north of Liptovský Mikuláš above the Bobrovecká valley, it offers a genuine mountain experience without the crowds of the more famous Tatra resorts.

The summit rises from a powerful ridge running south from Sivý vrch (1,805 m) along the main Western Tatra crest. The uppermost zone is draped in low mountain pine, but open viewpoints reveal the surrounding Western Tatra peaks, the Orava Beskydy, Orava Magura, Skorušinské and Chočské hills, Malá and Veľká Fatra, and the Low Tatras. The view towards the Salatín massif is particularly impressive. In spring the slopes come alive with colour, autumn brings crisp visibility, and winter conditions can make the terrain demanding.

Ostra sits at the boundary of the Bobrovec and Liptovský Trnovec cadastral districts — a quiet corner of the Western Tatras that feels wonderfully off the beaten track.
