Picture a limestone cliff rising 112 metres above the Orava River, crowned by a medieval castle that seems to grow straight out of the rock itself. That's Oravské hradné bralo — one of Slovakia's most photographed spots, where nature and history merge into a single dramatic silhouette.

The rock sits within the Orava Highlands, right next to the village of Oravský Podzámok. The sight of Orava Castle perched atop the sheer cliff is striking in every season — lush green in summer, golden in autumn, and almost fairy-tale-like when frost dusts the stone in winter. The area itself is compact but steep, and its limestone base supports a unique flora, including rare lichens that thrive on this kind of terrain.
