Niżnia Miętusia Rówień is a small mountain-pasture clearing tucked away in the Miętusia Valley, an eastern offshoot of the Kościeliska Valley in the Western Tatras. It is a place for those seeking solitude and a quieter side of the Tatras, since no marked hiking trail actually crosses this clearing.

Sitting at an elevation of 1100-1120 m, the clearing lies just below the Przysłop Miętusi pass and Miętusia Polana, surrounded entirely by forest. From here, hikers who venture off-trail are rewarded with lovely views of the Czerwone Wierchy range, along with Wantule, Wielka Świstówka, and the hanging valleys of Litworowa and Mułowa. Once one of the most fertile clearings of the former Hala Miętusia pastureland, it was known for its lush grass, among which the mountain leopard's bane (omieg górski) still grows in good numbers. Sadly, the clearing has been steadily overtaken by forest - since 1955 its area has shrunk by more than half, gradually changing the character of the landscape.

How to get to the summit

• Since no marked trail leads through the clearing, reaching it requires leaving the main trail in the Miętusia Valley - good orientation skills and a Western Tatras map are essential.
• The nearest reference point is the Przysłop Miętusi pass, accessible via trails through the Kościeliska Valley.

Practical information

• With no official trail, visiting the clearing requires off-trail navigation experience.
• Due to ongoing forest regrowth, the open views may differ from older descriptions of the area.

This is a place where nature is slowly reclaiming what was once a shepherd's clearing, with the mountain leopard's bane still hinting at its lush pastoral past.
