Mních is a modest but charming summit in the Skorušinské vrchy range, rising directly above the village of Zuberec at the gateway to the Western Tatras. It's a perfect pick for a quiet hike away from the crowds, offering a peaceful blend of forest and mountain meadows.

The summit itself sits under a thick forest canopy, so there's no open panorama right at the top — but step out onto the surrounding meadows and you'll be rewarded with views over the Skorušinské vrchy, Chočské vrchy and Western Tatras, and on clear days even Malá Fatra, Oravská Magura and the Orava Beskids. In summer the grassy slopes buzz with life, while in winter the eastern flank hosts a small ski resort, making Mních a worthwhile destination in any season.

How to reach the summit

• Oravský Biely Potok — red trail, along the main ridge from the north, moderate difficulty
• Malé Borové via Machy — red trail from the southwest
• Zuberec via Machy — blue trail
