Minčol (1,394 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Orava Magura range in Slovakia — a summit that combines easy accessibility with sweeping views over a vast sweep of the Western Carpathians. Sitting directly above the town of Dolný Kubín, it is a favourite destination for both casual hikers and seasoned mountain walkers.

The partially open summit rewards you with one of the finest panoramas in the region: the Little and Greater Fatra ranges, the Western, High and Low Tatras, Veľký Choč, and the Orava and Kysuce Beskids all spread out before you. The landscape is classic Carpathian — ridge meadows, mixed forests and open, breezy tops. In winter the area buzzes with activity thanks to the nearby SKI PARK Kubínska hoľa ski resort on the eastern slopes; in summer and autumn it offers peaceful walks through golden mountain pastures. The International Long-Distance Trail E3 crosses the summit, connecting Minčol to a wider European hiking network.

• The western and northern parts of the summit are protected as the Minčol National Nature Reserve.
• The area also falls within the buffer zones of Malá Fatra National Park and the Horná Orava Protected Landscape Area.
• The summit is crossed by the international E3 long-distance hiking route.

It is worth noting that there is another peak also called Minčol situated just to the north — do not confuse the two when planning your route.
