Malá Kopa is a rewarding ridge summit in the Western Tatras of Slovakia — quiet, unhurried, and well off the beaten tourist track. Sitting on the southern spur of Sivý Vrch, it forms a natural link in a satisfying ridge traverse that seasoned hikers will love.

The summit area is partly covered in forest and dwarf pine, giving views that are selective but genuinely atmospheric. From the clearings you can take in the surrounding peaks of the Western Tatras, the Bobrovecká and Jalovecká valleys below, and on a clear day distant ranges including the Oravské Beskydy, Oravská Magura, the Malá and Veľká Fatra, and the Low Tatras. In spring the slopes are lush green, autumn brings vivid colours, and winter turns the ridge into a peaceful snowscape for experienced hikers with snowshoes.

• From the north — from Sivý Vrch main ridge via Ostrá peak and Predúvratie saddle, green trail, ridge traverse, moderate difficulty.
• From the south — from Babky summit (1566 m) via Babková priehyba saddle, green trail, moderate difficulty.
• From Bobrovecká Vápenica — blue trail via Chata pod Náružím hut to Predúvratie saddle, moderate difficulty.

• The peak lies within Tatra National Park (TANAP) — park regulations apply throughout.
• The north-western slope falls within the Suchá dolina National Nature Reserve — access in that direction may be restricted.
• Chata pod Náružím hut is located along the blue trail, offering a convenient rest stop.

Despite its name meaning 'Small Kopa', Malá Kopa stands only a handful of metres lower than its neighbour Veľká Kopa — yet the two summits feel quite different in character, which makes the ridge traverse between them all the more interesting.
