Magura (842 m) is one of the characteristic peaks of the Beskid Niski range in southern Poland — a gentle, wide-shouldered massif that draws hikers looking for peace away from the crowds. The name 'magura' comes from Vlach language and means a solitary, towering mountain massif; there are dozens of peaks with this name across the Carpathians, but this one has its own distinct charm.

Beskid Niski is famous for its gentle, forested ridges and sweeping views, and Magura is no exception. In spring and summer the trail winds through beech forests full of birdsong, in autumn the slopes glow gold and red, and in winter, once snow blankets the ridges, an almost meditative silence takes over. This is a place for those who appreciate the truly wild, foothill atmosphere of the Carpathians.

How to reach the summit

• Starting from a nearby village at the foot of the range — marked trail, approx. 2-3 hours, moderate difficulty
• Approach from neighbouring passes — an alternative, longer ridge route

Though not the highest peak in the region, Magura perfectly captures the spirit of Beskid Niski — a borderland where Lemko heritage blends with wild nature and a stillness rarely found in more crowded ranges.
