Křížová hora (577 m a.s.l.) is one of those rare places where a gentle forest walk and centuries of spiritual history come together seamlessly. This prominent ridge stretching from Jedlová to Jiřetín has been an important pilgrimage site since the 18th century, and the atmosphere here is unlike any ordinary hilltop.

The ridge, forested only after 1790, offers a peaceful walk through dense woodland that transforms with every season — fresh and green in spring and summer, blazing with colour in autumn, and wrapped in silence under winter snow. Along the way and at the summit, you will discover a remarkably well-preserved sacred complex: the Chapel of the Crucifixion, the Garden of Gethsemane with sculptures of the sleeping apostles and a praying Jesus, a Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre modelled on the one in Jerusalem, and a historic well whose water was traditionally used by pilgrims to treat eye ailments and other illnesses.

• Jiřetín pod Jedlovou — start directly from the village; follow the Stations of the Cross path up to the chapel; easy walk, approximately 20–30 minutes.

• The entire complex has been a protected monument since 1964; the Crucifixion Chapel was listed as a cultural heritage site in 1966.
• Traditional pilgrimages take place on the Sunday closest to the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (14 September).
• The clock on the tower has been frozen at 8 o'clock since World War II — local legend says it was stopped deliberately to confuse the enemy.

The site owes its origins to a 17th-century legend about the youngest of seven brothers from the Dont family, who returned from exile, converted to Catholicism, and was miraculously healed after praying at a wayside cross — making Křížová hora one of the most storied pilgrimage destinations in the Šluknov region.
