Kozie Żebro (848 m a.s.l.) is one of the most distinctive peaks in the western Low Beskids — a sharp, even ridge with steep forested slopes that stands out clearly in the local panoramas. If you are looking for wild, quiet mountain scenery well off the beaten track, this is your place.

The summit sits on a narrow mountain spur branching off the main Carpathian ridge near Obycz and running northwest toward the confluence of the Ropa and Zdynia rivers. Together with the neighbouring peaks of Jaworzynka (869 m) and Skałka (820 m), it forms a compact and picturesque ridge. The terrain is unspoilt and peaceful, and since December 2024 the entire area around the summit has been protected as the Kozie Żebro Nature Reserve — a mark of its outstanding natural value. Spring and autumn offer the widest views from the ridge.

• Izby / Hańczowa — the Main Beskid Trail (GSB), via Ropki and Hańczowa to the summit, continuing to Regietów and Zdynia — moderate difficulty
• Wysowa / Ostry Wierch — the Wincenty Pol Trail, via Wysowa to the summit, then through Skwirtne to Smerekowiec — moderate difficulty

A fun piece of history: the name was reportedly given by Austrian cartographers who found a roe deer skeleton on the summit — and locals called roe deer 'koza' (goat). A small but charming story that perfectly captures the spirit of these wild, forgotten Beskid ridges.
