Kasne is a quiet, forested peak in the Western Tatras, rising above the Látaná valley near Zuberec. It's a great pick for hikers who want a peaceful walk through the woods rather than a crowded trail to a famous summit.

The peak sits on a massive ridge that runs north from Volovec through Lúčna towards Osobitá, in the Osobitá sub-range. The summit itself is covered in forest, so there's no open panorama right at the top — but from suitable clearings and open patches nearby you can catch glimpses of the surrounding Western Tatras peaks and valleys, as well as the Oravské Beskydy, Oravská Magura, and the foothills of southern Poland in the distance. In autumn the forest turns golden, winter brings a quiet, snow-covered trail, and summer offers welcome shade along the climb.

How to reach the summit

• From Zverovka via the Pod Osobitou saddle — green trail, moderate difficulty
• From the Zadná Látaná area via Lúčna and Roh — green trail
• From Oravice via Bobrovecké saddle and Lúčna — blue trail
• From Volovec — blue trail, demanding route for experienced hikers
