Jedlnik (747 m a.s.l.) is one of those summits that reward you far beyond the effort required to reach them. Its open, exposed top delivers sweeping views over the Śnieżnik Massif and the mountain ranges encircling the Kłodzko Valley — a panorama that makes the trip entirely worthwhile.

Located in the southern part of the Bystrzyckie Mountains, just south of the Przełęcz nad Porębą pass, Jedlnik sits right on the European watershed between the North Sea and Baltic Sea drainage basins. It's a fun geographical detail that adds a little magic to what is otherwise a pleasant, accessible hike. The exposed slopes look lush and green in summer, glow with warm colours in autumn, and on a clear winter day the snowy Sudeten panorama from the top is truly impressive.

• Przełęcz nad Porębą pass (nearby) — approach along the Sudecka Autostrada trail running up the eastern slope; short and easy, suitable for all fitness levels.

• On the eastern slope, along the Sudecka Autostrada route, you'll find a commemorative stone marking the 320th anniversary of King John III Sobieski's alleged return journey through the Dziká Orlice valley after the 1683 Relief of Vienna — worth a stop.

The old German name for the peak — Dreitannenberg, meaning 'Three Fir Mountain' — recalls three fir trees that once grew on the summit. The trees are long gone, but the views they framed are better than ever.
