Hromovec (895 m a.s.l.) is the highest point of the Spiš-Šariš Intermontane Area in eastern Slovakia — a forested, off-the-beaten-path summit that rewards those who enjoy a bit of adventure away from waymarked trails. It is a quiet, wild corner of the Slovak highlands worth discovering.

The summit forms a broad ridge running east to west, largely covered in dense woodland. Views from the very top are limited by the tree cover, but in the right conditions you can spot the surrounding ranges — the Slanské vrchy hills, Bachureň and the Spiš Magura. The landscape feels genuinely remote: cool and shady in summer, richly coloured in autumn, and peacefully snow-covered in winter.

• Šambron (village) — no marked trail, access through forest, difficulty: moderate. This is the easiest starting point for Hromovec.

• There is no waymarked trail to the summit — good navigation skills and off-trail forest walking are required.
• The massif has several peaks; the highest point (895 m) is not separately marked on the ground.

The mountain lends its name to the nearby village of Hromoš and to the geomorphological sub-unit it defines — a quiet giant that has shaped the local landscape for centuries.
