Hoblík (934 m a.s.l.) is one of the most eye-catching peaks in the northern part of Lúčanská Malá Fatra — its sharp, cone-like silhouette and rugged western rock faces are visible all the way from the city of Žilina. If you are looking for a summit that combines forest trails, via ferrata, rock climbing and even caves, this is the place.

The mountain is built from dolomite, which gives its western flank that distinctive jagged, cliff-edged character. Mixed woodland covers most of the slopes, keeping views limited on the way up, but the summit itself sits right on the edge of a rocky escarpment, opening up a rewarding panorama southward toward the main ridge of Malá Fatra — with Minčol (1,364 m) and Malý Minčol (1,330 m) dominating the skyline. From the less-vegetated western slopes you can spot parts of the Žilina Upland, the Strážov Hills, Súľov Rocks and the Javorníky range. On a clear day, the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy peaks — Kněhyně, Smrk and Lysá hora — appear on the horizon.

• There are no waymarked trails to the summit — good navigation skills required
• At the foot of the peak, at the mouth of Višňovská Valley, lies the 38-metre-long Hoblíkova Cave; Višňovská Cave is nearby as well
• The via ferrata and climbing routes on the western crags are used for training by mountain rescue and military units — bring appropriate gear if you plan to use them

The via ferrata here was built in 2003 by volunteers of the Javorník Hiking and Mountaineering Club, making it one of the few secured climbing routes in this part of Malá Fatra — a great bonus for anyone wanting to add a little vertical adventure to their day.
